Glad you're here. This is the kick-off — so before anything starts, here's who I am, why this exists, and what the next five weeks actually ask of you.
Five weeks of understanding the medium and understanding yourself — because those two things are inseparable.
“All media work us over completely. They leave no part of us untouched, unaffected, unaltered… The medium is the massage.”
Not the message. The massage — the working-over. A medium doesn't wait to be picked up. It is always on, and it is always doing something to you.
“The world was created with both good and bad, dancing in relationship. There is no light without shadow, no creation without destruction.”
Light and dark, joy and pain, are natural parts of human existence. Not a battle to be won. A relationship to be understood.
If we feel this is bad, then somebody has to decide to be the good that balances it. That is available to us. It is not available to us unknowingly.
Which means the first move isn't a prompt or a tool. It's stripping off the narrative we were handed — that AI is a tool.
The mirror at the doorway. Before you can enter the practice you have to become visible to yourself. 129 statements, sixteen positions, and no place to hide.
How Not To Use AI: 50 Contrarian Principles for the Imagination Age. The philosophical foundation — the text I assembled for myself and couldn't buy anywhere.
The book made liveable over thirty days, with other people. A philosophy without a daily practice is just an argument.
The professional craft. Twenty years of extractive research, inverted: cultivation instead of extraction, listening as method.
Not a product ladder. An initiation sequence — my own descent, rebuilt so somebody else can walk it without losing what I lost to get here.
I started writing this at the end of last year genuinely not knowing whether anyone else felt what I was feeling. That question is now answered — across 121 countries and all fifty US states.
The posts you carried furthest were about care, mothering, and reclaiming intelligence. Not one of them was about a tool. And the message that comes back most often is some version of you put words to something I'd been feeling and couldn't name.
Then, almost always, a second one: okay — so what do I actually do with it?
Thirty days. Five weeks. The book, made liveable — and done alongside other people.
A circuit through the book — embodied, immersive, and done alongside other people, so you see it for yourself rather than taking my word for it.
dissolve into it, or be automated out
refuse, and quietly disappear
Both of those were owned by someone else. By Week 5 you'll be standing in front of nine, and choosing deliberately.
Three things in your hands, and one seven-day rhythm they all run on.
Your book companion. All fifty chapters placed on a map, so you can see how they build — and read alongside the challenge if you want to.
Your companion through the thirty days. Where you're standing, what this medium does to someone built like you, and a coach that customises the work to it.
How you embody it rather than read it. Seven days a week to immerse, work with peers, rest, and imagine your way to your own position.
Fifty chapters, placed. Two axes: inner against outer work, root against field work. Where a law sits tells you what kind of work it asks of you.
Tap any law for its synopsis · hover the axis labels for what they mean
Soul before silicon. Self-knowledge beats skill acquisition — because a medium reflects whatever you bring to it, and the questions you can ask are bounded by the parts of yourself you've actually met.
Tap any dimension
| Dimension | The human question | Armour | Edge |

Tap any name · neither pole is the better person
Tap a circle for its distinctive statements · hover the axis labels
It made sense at the time, and it is costing you something now. Not a character flaw, and not the lesser half of anything.
The move is from defending to authoring. What decides which pole you land on isn't your terrain — it's how much of your stance is actually yours.
Arriving brings its own friction rather than an ending. Every Edge position has a next edge. There is no finish line here.
A custom GPT and a Gemini Gem, trained on the book, the philosophy, the whole curriculum and all seventeen archetypes.
Hand it any day's task and it sharpens it for your archetype's specific wound and tell.
Stuck on a task, a law, a term? It knows the whole body of work and can put it in your terms.
Use whichever you already have. Every task also works in its shared form, on its own.
Seven days, seven senses, in the order perception actually moves through a person. The same body, five times over.
Thirty-five days across the five weeks — thirty tasks, because Day 6 is rest.
Five weeks. Some land all at once on Monday; others drip, because the task needs yesterday to have happened first. Each week opens on its own stations — packaged clusters of chapters that share a theme.
Three stances, three doors each. No door is more advanced than another — and exit for good is a real one.
Neither doom nor rapture is written. Nothing past this line is choosable until you stop waiting for the future to be done to you. Cross the threshold — then choose your door.
Six sections, first person, no hedging. Two lanes: what stays in human hands, and what the medium may carry. Nobody hands you the right answer — on Day 30 you write your own.
A medium, not a maker. Ancestral, not artificial. It reflects what I bring, so what I bring is the work.
When I notice I've stopped being able to say which thought was mine, I stop. That is the line, not a feeling.
Named specifically — a person, a practice, a body of work. Not "balance". Not "more time".
An example, not a template — yours will look nothing like this
A Purist's lanes and a Hustler's lanes are not the same document. What you protect depends on where the medium presses on you — which is what the diagnostic was for.
Take your archetype and your five weeks of notes to the Challenge Coach and draft it together. Or with a person who knows you. Or both.
The tools will change under you. A Code built on principles rather than platform rules is the only kind that survives the next model.
It doesn't come from anyone else. It came from you.
